This bill would provide that participation in and communications made during a restorative justice process are inadmissible and not subject to discovery in civil, criminal, juvenile, administrative, or other proceedings, except as specified
This bill would give a victim the right to be notified of the availability of community-based restorative justice programs and processes available to them, including programs serving their community, county, county jails, juvenile detention facilities, and the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, as specified. The bill would additionally require the Attorney General to include this information in the “Victim Protections and Resources” card, as specified.
The purpose of this bill is to transfer all authority, responsibilities, and duties regarding juvenile justice from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) to the Office of Youth and Community Restoration (OYCR).
The purpose of this bill is to remove the court’s ability to require a minor to pay monetary victim restitution and instead requires the juvenile court to transmit the restitution order to the California Victim Compensation Board for issuance of payment to the victim.
